Darius shrugged and nodded. "Fine, perhaps there will be some friends of my father and they will think I'm getting an interest in politics by going to such a thing. So either way, it could be a win all around, right? At worst, it was a waste of my time. " He smiled slightly. "Couldn't hurt. I have plenty of time on my hands."

"I'm glad to hear." Gabriel said. "I'm sorry, I never caught your last name. I'll have to send you an invitation once a date is set."

Darius resisted holding out his hand to shake. "It's alright. I don't remember yours. I'm Carrington. But don't use the name, I have no power in my family."

"Carrington?" he knew that name of course. "I believe I have met one of your sisters. I'm Gabriel Richards."

Darius nodded. "Unless it was Pearl, allow me to apologize."

Gabriel chuckled. "It was. She was friendly and polite, though somewhat troubled it seemed."

Darius nodded and smiled a little. " That's her. I swear, she was switched at birth. She isn't like any of us."

"Is the rest so bad?" He quirked an eyebrow.

Darius shrugged. "They aren't as nice as she is. Some are worse than others. But they avoid me so I can't say if they have many bad qualities."

Awkward. Did everyone dislike this guy? The worst part was that Gabriel could sort of understand. "Well, I'm glad you have your sister..."
