Elijah seemed in thought and finally spoke. "Father Richards. You should have talked before leaving. You were valued in whitby and.. it's a shame you left without a goodbye. If you can face the town again, please don't hesitate to at least write. E.C?" He looked at the man hoping it would go through to him.

The man nodded, wrote down the message and then sent it. "Anything else, ser?"

Elijah looked nervous but shook his head. "No that's plenty.." He took out what he was sure was enough money. "I only hope it gets to him while he's still possibly reachable." He smiled weakly at the man at the counter, "Thank you for your help."

The telegrapher nodded and took the money.

Elijah hung his head and walked home. He was sure Anthony would be upset, but he'd explain he was in no danger of breaking up. But Elijah needed his closure and to speak to him before the man spiraled into a depression. It was heart breaking that he wouldn't get his chance.

Anthony gave up and discarded the letter about halfway through reading it. He almost wished that he hadn't read it, and just kept on living in blissful ignorance. He was unsure of what to think. On one hand, he was almost glad. Glad that Gabriel had left, glad that his life had been ruined, glad about everything. But he was also pissed at knowing that he and Elijah loved eachother. And that they probably still did.
The urge to tear the letter to pieces was strong. But he resisted it. This would've been the part where he just walks away and goes home or to a pub to drink himself to death, but as he physically couldn't do that, he just sat on the sofa and stared at his hands, and waited for Elijah to return and redeem himself somehow. He knew that he wouldn't trust anything Elijah said unless it confirmed his theories, but still, he needed to hear what he had to say for himself.

Elijah came home feeling useless that he couldn't catch the man even though there was no way to do anything if he'd already gotten onto the train and left town. When he stepped inside he blinked staring at Anthony. He put on a weak smile as he stepped over to him. "What.. are you doing up? You know you need to rest. I'm sorry that I left. I only had a little time. But I did hurry back home."

Anthony looked at Elijah as the latter stepped inside, but only for a moment. He shrugged at the question. "It's fine." It wasn't fine. It really, really wasn't. But he didn't want to show how bothered he actually was, eo he just said that. He considered for but a second whether or not he should bring up the contents of the letter, but quickly decided against it. There was no need to. He was too tired to try and confront and argue with him, anyways.

Elijah nodded and looked at him in concern. "Please get your rest then, it'll help you recover." He realized the note had been left behind and snatched it up as he leaned down to take Anthony's hand. He would put it later in his lockbox to remind him of the now lost priest.

Anthony had to resist the urge to scowl when he saw Elijah take the letter. He shouldn't be so angry about this, but he is. "I will," he said, forcing a small smile onto his face. He shifted a bit so that he'd be more comfortable, though it didn't really help. Maybe he'll just forget about all this once he wakes up. That motivated him to try and rest, for sure.
