As soon as Gareth had caught his breath enough to utter a word, he swore, but then added an "aye" in response to Claire's question. He followed Quentin an was glad to find that there was a rock to climb on soon enough, although it took quite a bit of scrambling with the weight on him. "Well..." he said, when he sat down on the rocky surface." He looked around but couldn't see a thing. "At least we found a way through, eh?"

She followed the tugging, satisfied that the two men were, indeed, alright. When she made it to the rock to climb onto, she almost flopped like a fish just being grateful to get out of the water.

"That's the spirit, Mister Scott."

Quentin says as he works by feel alone. This is why you always packed your own bag, you never knew when you might need to find something in the dark. There is a few moments of rustling movement, then there is a spray of sparks, another spray, and then a light blossoms quickly as Quentin holds up the torch. The lantern was still far above where they escaped from.

As the light took hold they could see where they were standing finally. The tunnel they'd dropped out of was still spilling out water but it was dwindling to a trickle. It cascades into what appeared to be a man-made pool based on the shape, about a twenty by twenty square, filled with water. Neary by was a tunnel that appeared to lead back up.

"Hrmm, perhaps the slide was built to quickly descend from the top?" Quentin speculates. "That tunnel, I am going to guess, leads back up to that gate I couldn't get open." So they weren't trapped, at least, not entirely. They would still be stuck behind the gate but they could yell at the father and son pair when they came to investigate.

Well that spirit evaporated pretty quickly when Gareth realized they were trapped. Even if they found treasure, it would be little use if they all ended up dying here. Oh what had he signed up for!? "So... what do we do now?"

She mumbled an oath when she realized they had nowhere to go but up. But then, how could that be? There was no puzzle? No other clue? "But there has to be another way," she said, frowning.

Moving the torch away from where they had arrived Quentin moves deeper into the chamber revealing that it was far larger than it first seemed. The area opening up a few dozen feet away from the area they were in with the pool, the sight of wood boards covered in dust coming into relief as he goes a bit further. "You should strike your own torches," Quentin says turning back to look at them with a grin. "We've exploring to do."

Gareth took out his torch but entirely failed to light it. "Um... can I light it on yours?"

He wouldn't last a day out in the wild.

She took out her torch and lit it the way she saw Quentin do. Assuming he didn't light the other man's torch, she would go ahead and do it. Claire then turned about and headed toward the boards, water squishing in her shoes as she walked. She let her gaze wander about as she did, looking for clues of some sort... anything that could tell them something besides "go up."

Quentin lights Gareth's before Claire has her's lit. Once they have all three torches their little space of light is a lot better and they head onto the boardwalk following it for a distance until they come to an ancient-looking dock. But not just a dock, there were buildings as well. In fact, it was an entire port deep under the ground, Quentin raising his torch up to reveal that they were on the shore of what looked like an underground lake or bay, with a small village built around it, and across the water on the other side of the dock was a ship, a god damn galleon. It was raised out of the water in what looked to be the shipyard so it was hard to tell if it was sea worth but there it was. The Never Say Die.

"It appears as though we've found our hidden pirate cove."

Quentin says with genuine surprise.

"How did they manage all of this?"

Gareth followed Quentin, trying to keep his flame close to his body to help him dry faster. It was warmer down below than it was above ground, but with his clothes wet, he was still cold, and very miserable. But he forgot his misery when the underground harbour settlement came into view. "Bloody hell..." And then a thought came to mind. "There must be a way out by water!"
