"Can I go with you once you go to arrest a criminal?" Bram begged. "I promise I will stay at a safe distance."

Elijah looked uncertain. "Alright, next time I know there is someone to arrest, I will try to bring you along if I don't think they'll be too difficult." He was hoping Bram would forget.

"Yes!" The boy ran around, excited.

Elijah chuckled, "I don't think it'll be whatever you are hoping for. But at least you will see what the job is like.'

"I promise I'll be good!" Bram said.

He nodded and smiled. "I know you will be. I have a lot of faith in you."

Bram smiled. "I'll be your apendix." That was the word for someone who is being taught the trade, right?

Elijah smiled. "Apprentice. And you still want to be a constable?" He looked surprised.

"If I get to arrest people." Bram said with a smile.

Elijah sighed heavily and smiled. "Just please remember that they are people. You shouldn't arrest someone just because you technically can. You might find yourself making a mistake and could be arrested and would hope someone be humane and spare you. We all make mistakes sometimes.'
