Ruth woke up wrapped up in his arms and it took a moment for her mind to remember she was with him and they had shared a night of lovemaking after months of her being there. While she had absolutely no regret in letting it happen, hell, even initiating the kiss that facilitated things, she was very giddy and overwhelmed.

She carefully extracted herself from the bed and pulled on most of her clothes before quietly taking her leave. She was very careful in leaving the room so others would not be alerted to her wanderings. She then went to her room and sat a time before penning a note for him and leaving it for him on her chest of drawers. It was discreet enough that nothing incriminating, only a note that anyone could read that explained she was taking the day to herself before she would retrieve her son sometime in the later morning.

She pulled on the easiest clothes she could get into and left while it was still in the dark of the early morning hours. The autumn air was crisp like the frosty grass that crunched underfoot whilst she followed a familiar path in the garden, the very furthest corner where she lay in the leaves on her cloak, staring up at the sky until the frost was melted and the sun was high. She did nothing but lie there breathing, there was no weeping, just feeling overwhelmed.

The absence of her warmth eventually woke him from his slumber and finding her absent he felt a stir of concern. Dressing, he padded out of the room and started looking for her. This was a process that required some wandering about and asking for her, which, he noted that everyone was being rather...circumspect with their tone. It appeared as though it was not a secret that Ruth had spent the night in his room even if they weren't acknowledging it. They had Betsy to thank for that since she'd been the one to notice her absence in the servant's quarters.

"Ruth?"

He eventually found her laying outside which was a bit odd though that just meant he didn't know why she was doing it.

His saying her first name was lovely to her ears. She smiled slightly before sitting up and folding her legs under her. "Hello," she murmured softly, and then she would pick at a fold in her skirt. "I needed some air."

"Ah, I see." He settled down next to her and gave her a soft smile. "I'll admit, I was a little worried when I woke up to find you gone. It was probably a prudent choice though." Even if it had caused him some breath panic.

"Aye but I don't think it mattered," she chuckled a little. She just knew at some point, it would be brought up that they spent the night together. Honestly, the lovemaking had been cathartic for her, but it prompted the need to have a think. She then leaned into his side without realizing it.

"No, I think that the entire house is aware."

He admitted with a soft chuckle as he leaned into her in turn.

Her head moved to his shoulder and she gave a sigh, but not an unhappy one. She was exhausted from everything going on and it didn't help she had been up well before dawn. "I came out here yo avoid questions at least."

"We are going to have to answer them eventually." He let out a sigh of his own. "That is the unfortunate part of matters of such of these, they can't just be between the two of us no matter how much easier that would be."

"Aye, I know. Today isn't that day fer me only because I feel tired after everythin' goin' on. I wish we could just... Be." She lifted her head and tilted it into a warm mote of sunlight that cooled from the autumn breeze. "I need to get me son today. I need to kiss his face." She gave a slight smile.

"We would have to go on a trip somewhere to manage that." That was their only real option, if they went a town over no one would know them or care to bother them. But she was right, she had to go get Jacob.
