"I'm not a mind reader. I came looking for you, for all I knew your dad would be the one to open the door. She tried to shut the door on me, but I wanted to find out where you were. It's not like it's my fault people don't think well of her." He frowned and looked away.

Rose sighed. "I'm sorry."

Benny smiled, "Don't worry about it. I really made your sister angry, but I tried to fix things. Think she still hates me, but that's where I started, so no big deal. " He leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling. "Maybe I should go upstairs and introduce myself to your boss. Most people hate me, but some find me very charming."

"Are you mad?" Rose hissed. "You're not even supposed to be here. I should be working. "

Benny sighed, "You have no faith in me. I'm hurt. Okay okay. Will you try to ask around? I'm willing to clean a little or cook if it means free shelter or food?" He started towards the door. "I can always come back to your place tonight to try to sweet talk your dad myself, if he 'isn't so bad'."

"Good luck with that." Rose said sarcastically.

Benny picked up the box and nodded. "Thanks. I will have good luck!" He held his chin up high and walked out.

Rose shook her head.

Benny rolled his eyes and waved as he left her alone.
