"I love this house," she said when he mentioned the view. "I cannot wait to sleep in my bed tomorrow night. I am excited to get my things unpacked and my kitchen broken in. Everything is going to be wonderful." She was genuinely happy to have her own home even if she was still technically under her father's thumb, but even still, she had to work for what was hers and she didn't mind it.

Darius gave her a gentle nod. "I can always send over a maid or two if you need assistance with unpacking or moving furniture."

"Papa didn't want me to be alone so my maid is to live here too. I might need the extra hands for the furniture." The maid was to act as a chaperone and Darius may have heard there would be a few guards patrolling around her house too in order to keep her safe and she didn't know about it since everything was stemmed from her being kidnapped. "Thank you, brother."

Darius didn't want to mention it, he hoped their father would reconsider letting her have some freedom she clearly craved. "That's good. And no need to thank me. I am happy to see you spread your wings."

"I never thought I would get to," she said honestly. "This is a man's world, after all."

Darius shrugged, "Sometimes a woman can be strong and independent enough she makes it through. And I think you can be that kind of woman too."

"Do you? I hope so." She said as she moved to sit on the floor. Her older sisters would never do that.

Darius looked down and smiled. "We should make sure you have chairs soon."

"They are in the wagon to be delivered tomorrow. This is so exciting." She patted the floor with both hands and did a little bit of a dance in her joy.

Darius laughed as he sat before her. "It is exciting. But are you telling me you will sleep on the hard floor tonight?"
