Gareth opened his mouth, but jumped a little and closed it when Quentin cut in in a voice that did not tolerate protest. He pressed his lips together, swallowed the last bit of pride he had left and said: "I think the whalebones is a good place to look, sir."

She was seething by the end of that. But she'd said her piece and made her point. "Sorry," she muttered to Quentin, but not to mister Scott. Humph. Her eyes still flashed at him but she respectfully kept her mouth closed. Such a man child, she thought.

"Good," Quentin says with a sigh as he nods towards Gareth. "As the local guide, I am sure you know the fastest way to the jaw. Lead on Mister Scott." He instructs following the younger man as they make their way to the jaw.

"Yes sir," he said, not looking at Claire. He began to lead them out of the inn and towards the whalebone arch, without a word.

That had certainly taken the fun out of the hunt. She felt deflated thanks to the reporter, but she would bite her tongue about it because she had no desire to start arguing again. Hmph, the man wasn't worth it, she reminded herself. She followed as quietly as he.

It doesn't take them long to get to the Whalebone Arch and Quentin looks at the two then back at the clue. He frowns slightly since the other clues had all had... more. "Look around." He suggests as he tucks the current clue into the singular tube he had them all in now.

Gareth started inspecting the ground around the whalebones, looking for anything out of the ordinary. He still felt both annoyed and somewhat humiliated, but he decided to shut up and get the quest over with. He'd take his money, if there was any, and go back to bullying people on paper.

Claire also began to look around, no longer worried about Mister Scott. She was determined to get back into the spirit of the hunt and so, with the appearance of enthusiasm, she hunted for the next clue.

"Hrmph." Quentin says after he feels they've searched everywhere. "I feel as though we are missing something." Finding a relatively flat spot of ground he taps out the map fragments looking at them for a moment. They were missing something, some piece of the puzzle...

There was nothing out of the ordinary that Gareth could see and so when Quentin took out the map, he walked over and crouched down to look at it as if that would somehow give them a clue. "I suppose if it's hidden underneath, we might try digging, but with no clue as to where precisely we might find the clue, we might dig for a long time, and we'll probably be stopped by the authorities anyway," he commented.
