Maddie had spent the day cleaning things and making the house look as much as like new as she could. Frankly, she was exhausted but had still managed to make a nice dinner for him. She had even checked several times during the day to let the dog and cat in and out if they needed it. She thought she heard something outside and looked out a window just as he was going into the small barn.
