Elijah just wanted to let him rest peacefully and felt like it'd be best to keep himself busy. It really took the man almost no time to switch the bed covers and placed them aside to get them washed later. He wondered if Anthony could even fall asleep in the time it took before he returned and sat on the floor at his side. He did feel guilty even though he hadn't actually done anything, the fact his heart could feel torn was bad enough.
