Anthony gave up and discarded the letter about halfway through reading it. He almost wished that he hadn't read it, and just kept on living in blissful ignorance. He was unsure of what to think. On one hand, he was almost glad. Glad that Gabriel had left, glad that his life had been ruined, glad about everything. But he was also pissed at knowing that he and Elijah loved eachother. And that they probably still did.
The urge to tear the letter to pieces was strong. But he resisted it. This would've been the part where he just walks away and goes home or to a pub to drink himself to death, but as he physically couldn't do that, he just sat on the sofa and stared at his hands, and waited for Elijah to return and redeem himself somehow. He knew that he wouldn't trust anything Elijah said unless it confirmed his theories, but still, he needed to hear what he had to say for himself.
