Alice tried to pull herself free and even kicked at Elijah. "Just leave me be, Elijah!" she shouted.

"You're sick, Alice! What do you think running will gain? If you got away, we would just be waiting for you with Ben there as well. If you are trying to hide being sick.. well... this is the worst way to do it."

"Just leave me be," the girl begged, crying. "Please, Elijah, I beg you. You have no idea what you're doin'."
Anne came running towards them. "Alice, you must stop this! Elijah's only tryin' to help!"

Elijah frowned seeing her cry. He shook his head and held her hand tighter. "You can't just escape from whatever this is, Alice. I always thought I tried my best to be someone you kids could trust and turn to. Hiding your illness, whatever it is, isn't something you can avoid. You can't run from your family and the doctor is already coming."

"Please, Elijah... I'll do anything... No doctor..." Alice begged.
Suddenly, Anne grasped. "Alice..." She looked at her sister with wide eyes. Alice gave her a desperate look.

Elijah sighed. "Anne, just a moment.." He pulled Alice aside and leaned in to look into her eyes as his voice lowered to a somber whisper. "Alice.. this is your one chance. Tell me, what is going on?"

Alice sobbed and shook her head. "Please Elijah..."
Anne rushed over. "Elijah! Alice is right... leave her be. I'll look after her until t' doctor comes. Father expects you."

Elijah sighed. He did his best. He nodded to Anne. "keep a close eye on her. I'll go see Ben." He hesitantly let her go and left to see Ben. He hoped they could handle whatever was happening, this was crazy to him.

Anne nodded, but she looked as if she was about to faint as well. She led Alice back into the cottage.

Ben was sitting at the table, an opened money box with some money in front of him. Will was poking up the fire. "Elijah!" He said, when he saw the constable. "What's wrong with Alice? Will said she fainted."

Elijah sighed looking unhappy as he came in. 'I don't know but the doctor is coming. Anne said she'd take care of her and for me to come see you. I hope that he can help because she is acting odd.'
