Elijah frowned looking very unconvinced. "I think it's important we make sure. I won't make you pay the bill." He looked to Bram. "Go fetch the doctor. We will just be certain. Alice, you have been feeling ill recently. It isn't healthy to pretend you are alright if you aren't."

"No!" Alice protested. "No! I refuse!" She tried to get up to stop her brother, but was forced to sit down when everything turned white.
Bram looked from Elijah to Alice. "Alice is scared of the doctoooooor!" he teased in sing-song voice.
Alice's mind raced. "It's..." she grasped. "It's an embarrassing girl problem!" she decided. "That I don't want to discuss with all of you!"
"Ew." Will commented.

Elijah still seemed uncertain. "Look me in the eyes, Alice. Tell me that is the reason. I am very worried. I won't forgive myself if you are being stubborn like your father."

"I don't want to hear the reason." Will commented, and he mock-covered his ears.
"Shut up!" Alice snapped at him. Bram also covered his ears.
Alice looked Elijah in the eye, but frightened and determined. "That is t' reason." she said.

Elijah still felt nagging doubt but let her be. He could never act on just a feeling, and certainly had to trust Alice. "Alright. Why don't you rest though. You need it too."

Alice nodded and then... well who would think? There was another knock at the door.

Elijah was slower answering the door this time. He blinked seeing who was there. What was going on with today? "Come in. Everything alright?"

"I'm so sorry we're all disturbing ye, so early in t' morning, Elijah." Anne said. "Father asks if ye could drop by as soon as you begin working. He thinks we've had another burglar." They had reported the crazy kidnapper of course. Indeed, as she said it, Bram already moved to where he was behind his older brother, as if he was in danger once more. "There's money missin'." Then Anne spotted her sister. "Are you alright, Alice?"
Alice nodded quietly, still pale and shaken.

Elijah looked startled. "Another? Alright. I'll come by. Have you noticed anything odd? Footprints, an opened window? I may need to see about getting your house some locks or something to keep you safe at night."

He shook his head as he was worried. "Do you think it was the same guy?"

Was it too late to permanently move in with Elijah? Bram wondered.
