"You must be very, very tough, then, if you don't cry at all. Tougher than me, even," Anthony remarked with a monotone tone. "look, it's fine to.....feel emotions and cry. Everyone cries sometimes. Even 'tough guys.'"

James looked at him skeptically. "Do you cry?"

"Yes, I do," Anthony admitted, albeit slightly reluctantly. He didn't exactly like talking about his own feelings and the fact that he's talking to a child about them didn't exactly make him feel better about it.

James frowned. "When?"

What the hell kind of question is that. "When I feel.....sad or angry or sometimes when I just...need to cry," Anthony shrugged. Now that he has talked about his feelings for more than one sentence he has decided that he hates it.

"Oh..." said James. He stared straight a head for a moment, frowning, as if in deep thought. "I feel sad sometimes," he said.

Anthony looked at the ground. "That's....okay," he tried to....reassure? James. "everyone feels sad sometimes. Really." Some more than others.

"Sometimes I cry," he finally admitted, but quickly added: "But only a little."

Anthony frowned for a moment, but it faded quickly. "That's fine, that's fine. Everybody cries. Even me. I cry a lot sometimes." Reassuring kids was not his strong suit. He touched James's arm as if wanting to lean in for a hug or something, but being too afraid to do so.

James looked up confused. "But you're a tough man!"

Yeah right.
