It had been the day she'd received the letter. After feeling a mix of relief and stress, she decided to head to the church. She was very certain he hadn't told them a thing, and while she couldn't fault him for feeling maybe the church wasn't for him, to simply leave without any warning seemed irresponsible. She knew she couldn't possibly understand whatever he was going through, so she couldn't judge him too harshly.
Still, she had to salvage what she could just in case he decided he wanted to keep going. Maybe speaking to Father Richards would help her with her own feelings in this mess though she couldn't say much. That moment was when she realized she'd rarely said a word to the priest though she'd seen him in service plenty since coming to town.
"He seems like a very reasonable man." She assured herself and knocked softly.
