Edwin’s brows lifted with the name given in turn, delighted with the extra little tidbits this Zechariah threw in there with it.

“Ah! A lawyer,” always good to have one of those on his side.

“A strong name too. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Mire,” Edwin dipped into a bow, the gesture only slightly exaggerated.

The others on the crew – well he supposed he’d meet them soon. Given his own lies and the lawyer’s lack of experience, he was glad to hear there would be an actual sailor aboard. Maybe they’d be pleasant enough to cling to when the boat inevitably capsized!

…Or they’d be one of those real gruff ones that’d sooner punch him in the face.

Either way.

“Well, I will be glad to meet them. I’ve only just arrived in town, I do need the connections...” but alas, that was not the matter at hand. Edwin flashed another smile.

“I shall leave you to it then, Mr. Mire. Unless there’s anything you need of me.”
