Edward jumped up immediately. In reflex, he got to his feet and hugged his shoes to his chest and his eyes widened. He glared at the guy and was about to yell at him. He glanced to Mable though, who was actually defending him. What? That definitely wasn't weird. Maybe she still believed a house with a fantastically huge yard.
"We were just hanging out." He glanced to the girl. "See you later, Mable." He stuck his tongue out at the tall bastard and moved to the door.

Mable glared at her brother as he cursed at her, and her expression quickly turned very sad As Edward got up to leave. Already! And she was having such a good day too. She wanted to argue with her brother, or follow Edward out, but she knew neither would go over well.
"Goodbye Edward, I'll see you soon!" she told him, giggling behind a hand as he stuck his tongue out at her brother. The audacity! He was so brave!
The door was slammed shut the moment Edward was clear of it, and Mable was instantly pinned under her brother's stern gaze. She fell back onto the bed and wished very badly that she was somewhere else.
