James was born in Whitby to parents who already had more children than they could afford. His mother is either sleeping or drunk. His father is stressed and shouts at anyone who get close enough. Neither of them remember his name or which of the children he is. At least his older siblings are looking out for him.
James only went to school a few times, but his mother doesn't remember that he is supposed to go, and his father thinks school is a waste of time, and so when he decided he didn't like it, James stopped going. Instead, he helps out his father, wanders the streets doing mischief, or earns a little money by helping smugglers. He hopes to be a pirate and sail the world one day. |
