Donald arrived at the house he would soon live in and rapped upon the door. He was dressed in traveling clothes and held a bag with a fresh change for the day after, as well as anything else he thought he needed. He took in a deep breath nervously, for today was the day they were leaving for London, and it would be a long journey but worth the effort, for soon he would be wed to the beautiful and delightful Persephone Blythe. He was a happy man.

He wondered if she was happy too, not knowing that she celebrated with her household already. He hummed a little and tipped his hat to a passerby as he awaited entry to the handsome house his fiance called home.

Persephone, who was in her bedroom (as she'd been when Donald last came a'calling) when she heard her doorman calling up the stairs that she had a visitor, quickly picked up the messenger bag that held an extra change of travelling clothes and a few other things she may need on the journey and made for the door- but paused at her vanity. She picked up a box that held a small seaglass necklace she'd purchased this morning downtown and tucked it safely in the bag, tut-tutting at herself for almost forgetting her gift for Harriet. As she came down the stairs, she saw her doorman conversing with her fiance- ever since she'd announced her engagement yesterday, all her servants had become a lot more keen on Donald Witaker's presence. "Donald!" Persephone said with a wide smile when he saw her and leaned in to give him a peck on the cheek in greeting.

She turned to her housekeeper, who'd appeared from the parlor a few moments prior when she'd heard the door open, and told her, "Please, take a paid vacation for the next few days. You and everyone else working for me has earned it." The housekeeper smiled, curtsied politely to Donald, and turned to give the rest of the staff the good news as Persephone turned back to her fiance. "Shall we get going?"

He accepted the kiss to his cheek graciously, returning the favor with a soft chuckle, "It's good to see you, my dear." He was as happy as a pig in a mud puddle, one could see a lightness in him that hadn't been there before... It was if a weight had lifted off of his shoulders that he could actually move on to be with someone. "Ahh, you spoil your staff. I love it." He grinned at her choice to give the staff a vacation while she was away. And then it came time for them to make ready and leave and Doc Witaker had a spring in his step when he escorted his bride to be out of the house. Before they made it to the cobblestone, he put his arm up in offering for her to take it so he could escort her properly to the railway station.

Persephone was both endeared and amused by Donald's clear spring in his step. Had she really made him this happy? She liked to think she had. As they left the house, she slung the strap of her messenger back over her neck, then took his arm when he offered it. "I do appreciate you asking me to come with you, Donald," she said truthfully, "I am quite looking forward to seeing my sister, and seeing my parents happy with me." The 'for once' there was implied but unspoken, as Persephone didn't want to spoil the mood. As they started down the road, she noted with satisfaction that she'd packed her bag just right so the pressure of its weight spread out evenly across her hip, upper leg, and opposite shoulder. The mind of an architect was good for many other things, she mused to herself with a soft smile. Glancing at her fiance, she felt her smile grow as he walked with her to the train station. Today was going to be a good day.

"And I will enjoy seeing you smile when you see your sister. Your happiness is my utmost concern while we are in London." This meant that there would be some confrontation if Percy's father decided to be an asshole. Donald regarded her with a grin as they took a leisurely pace toward the railway station, him having shown up early deliberately so they would have this time together. "Hopefully the train trip will be much nicer than riding in a hired coach, those can be awfully dreary and long.

Persephone blushed when he said her happiness was his priority and gently squeezed his arm in a silent recognition and thanks of his kindness. She was quite sure Harriet would like Donald the most out of her immediate family, for many a reason that ran through her mind as he went on. To his remark concerning carriage rides, she nodded in agreement. "Indeed. My parents wanted me to take a carriage here, but I protested considering the amount of luggage that would have to be precariously stacked atop the vehicle should I do so. They bought me a train ticket instead, and I fancied the views on the way here, though I was sad considering the circumstances of my leaving London. I am sure I will enjoy the scenery more now that my mood has soared exponentially since meeting you."

"Well now, that is a compliment if I ever heard one," he chuckled, "I am glad I could be of service, my dear." He tipped his hat to some more passersby. "I will make sure you can ride the train any time you want to see your sister..." He nodded firmly at this and swaggered just a little bit without realizing it. Indeed, she made him feel younger, he felt like he was particularly dapper. And there was also that smile of his that could light up a room... The man couldn't stop smiling at all.

Persephone noticed that Donald's smile hadn't dimmed in the slightest and an idea slipped into her mind- maybe 'Sunshine' for a pet name? After all, she'd noticed quickly that his smile was youthful and infectious, and she appreciated that about him- he'd brought sunshine to her life. Still, she'd have to think on it. Maybe there was something a little bit better that was simply escaping her mind right now. "Thank you," she said, her smile growing to almost match the width of his, "I do hope Harriet and I will be able to stay in close touch, and I appreciate your support of my relationship with her." Truly, she appreciated everything he'd done for her in the last two days, and she made a mental note to thank him in a lengthy manner later.

"You are quite welcome," he said. His smile only widened a little when she spoke of her sister and he said modestly, "It's the least I could do." Eventually, they reached the train depot and he escorted her inside and to a bench, "I will return to you in a moment." And he took himself to buy the train tickets needed to get to London. He would return about five minutes later with the tickets in hand, and he would sit down and take a load off. "I am looking forward to this trip. I won't lie."

Persephone smiled at Donald as he returned and sat down beside her. In the five minutes he was gone, she'd been wondering about her sister, and if she'd grown much in her older sister's absence.

"I am looking forward to this trip. I won't lie."

Persephone gave a soft laugh and gently laid her hand on her fiance's arm. "No need to lie," she said, turning her smile to him, "I am very glad you are as excited as I am." Truly, she couldn't wait to see her sister again. Her parents, too, of course, though her eagerness to see them was mostly from the hope her engagement would appease them and allow her to see Harriet often again, despite remaining in Whitby with Donald.
