Alice looked down. "It's alright," she said.

Elijah nodded and studied her. He knew she started to act this way before he last saw her, but he wanted to make sure there was no signs of abuse or anything else that could be troubling her. And the last thing he wanted to bring up was the baby , he was sure that wouldn't give her any joy. "I was wondering if.. I could bring you anything to make it easier. Perhaps some books? Or something else for you to enjoy in your spare time?"

Alice looked at neither of them as she spoke: "I'd rather waste away in boredom."

Tobias jaw twitched.

Tell me you're unhappy and what you hate. I know I can't solve everything but I would always do what I am able to... I honestly want you happy. "

Alice clenched her fists on her lap. It was easier to be angry and piss people off. She didn't like the way Elijah talked to her. She bit her tongue and tried to fight back her tears.

Tobias put down his cup and looked from Alice to Elijah. "I'll... step outside for a moment." He got up and left the house. As soon as the door fell beside him, Alice broke into tears.

Elijah thanked him but was surprised when she cried. He wrapped his arms around her though he was nervous she would push him away. "Alice.. it is ok. You can tell me anything. It won't leave this room..."
