Elijah stared down at the ground and slowly shook his head. Ben, his friend, dismissed him so coldly when he was trying to help. "You can.. " He didn't have anything else he could say.

Wesley frowned more, "Why are you lying to me? Do you like just being looked down on? People don't just make up injuries."

Ben took out a pack of tobacco and started filling his pipe in a very moody silence.

Noah looked up at the constable defiantly. "Do you see injuries?"

Elijah sighed and closed his eyes. He wasn't supposed to get in the way but this was only hurting everyone. He rubbed his hands together as his anxiety grew.

Wesley rose his brow. "Alright, I'll send a doctor to examine your body thoroughly. I can play this game too since you have to be difficult."

Ben lit his pipe and began to smoke.

Elijah frowned and closed his eyes. "Ben... did you know who hurt Noah?"

Wesley frowned for a moment, then smiled as he handcuffed Noah to the desk. "To make sure you don't go anywhere." He was about to walk but an idea came to him. He put a lift candle on the floor beside the desk where a lot of papers were stacked high. "Don't move an inch, or you might start a fire. And I don't know how long it will take me to get back." He leaned over to speak, " and I'm afraid Constable Crane doesn't have a way to unlock MY handcuffs."
