RE: Safe and Sound - Benjamin Ward - 01-28-2020

Ben nodded, but Maggie spoke up: "Father, you are still sick. No one will be helped if you collapse in Scarborough. Let James go, and stay at Elijah's place."
"I'm not going to sit around while my daughters might be freezing to death or in bad hands this very moment!" Ben protested.
"Alice and Anne are not really in danger, are they? They'll come back, won't they?" Bram suddenly said. He looked around at the adults, frightened. "I didn't mean it when I said they was fat."

RE: Safe and Sound - Elijah Crane - 01-28-2020

Elijah didn't know what to say. "I can understand Alice might be upset and hiding, but there is no reason  for Anne to vanish like this. The sooner we find them, the better."  He sighed shaking his head. "Stay home, Ben. Please. We will go look and return as soon as we can. "

Ben wanted to protest, but finally nodded. "We don't know what to expect, Bram." He told his son honestly. "Maggie, tell James to take the train to Scarborough. There's money under the bed. Tell Will to check with Rose if he hadn't done so yet. Elijah, if you could lend me your key, I'll wait at yours in case any reports come in, if that's okay. Ye better hurry if you are to catch the last train to York."

RE: Safe and Sound - Elijah Crane - 01-28-2020

Elijah nodded and handed him the key before he hurried to get home to grab his money for a ticket and went to the station. "Please let me find them.." He prayed as he made his way to the station.

RE: Safe and Sound - Jack - 01-28-2020

At the station, the station master was talking to the ticket inspector, while the train to Pickering and York was waiting.
"Mr. Crane!" He called out. "What luck to find you here! It seems Mr. Davies has seen the girls!"

RE: Safe and Sound - Elijah Crane - 01-28-2020

Elijah's heart nearly stopped as he couldn't believe his luck. "This is the best news I've had all day! Where  did he see them?"

RE: Safe and Sound - Jack - 01-28-2020

"I'm so sorry, ser. If I knew you was lookin' for 'em, I would have detained them." The ticket inspector said. "There was two fishing lasses on the earliest train to Pickering this morning. They had no money or a ticket, but I felt it was harsh to hand them over to the police. They were polite and so young too. Didn't seem like the folk who would usually do this, so I gave them the chance to get off at the next station. Goathland that was."

RE: Safe and Sound - Elijah Crane - 01-28-2020

Elijah was shocked. Why was Anne going with her? He sighed. "Thank you sir. When is the next train that'll go that way? I need to find them. Also if you see a man taking the train to Scarborough..' He described James. "Ask if he's helping me search and tell him I'm already going in a direction they went and he can return home."

RE: Safe and Sound - Jack - 01-28-2020

"Why, ser, that's on the track to Pickering. You're just in time." He gestured at the waiting train.
"I'll tell him if I see him." The station master answered. "I hope you find those girls, Mr. Crane. Its It's a cold night and with this fog..."

RE: Safe and Sound - Elijah Crane - 01-28-2020

Elijah nodded. "Every minute counts. I thank you both so much." He handed over the money for a ticket so that he could rush onto the train and get a move on. He had no knowledge of the town he was heading to and hoped he'd find them quickly.
