She would have offered her hand, but the floorboards seemed precarious at best and even with two slighter weights combined, she was worried about falling back into the hole and having to repeat the process. "Careful right there, you don't want to fall back in," she said, pointing to a spot.

"Well, that was certainly eventful." Quentin says as Gareth returns to the deck. "Do we want to continue looking for the treasure? Or should we return to the entry pool and see if we can get the door open to get back to the surface? If we do the former, we should check the nearby buildings and see if we can find a prybar."

Gareth shrugged. "I'd say let's look for the treasure while we're down here." He wasn't keen on staying here, but he certainly wasn't keen on having gone down here for nothing.

"We've come this far... why turn around now?" she asked with a smile. Indeed, it would have been kind of a letdown to turn back at that point. She was not keen on doing that after all of what they just went through!

"Good on you two."

Quentin says when they both decide to show their resolve by continuing the search.

"Based on what I ready, the majority of the booty that they brought in was divvied up amongst the crew. However, they had one-third go to the port and it seems that they placed that third within a secure storage area somewhere on the dock. So I believe we are looking for a vault of some kind within one of the buildings."

There were more than a few of those on the shore the only question was, which one might hold the treasure. From where they were standing there was what looked to be a tavern, a warehouse, and a few actual houses. But there was more to the small port beyond what could be seen by torch.

"Well, let's do some searching then." And he left the ship. Being no longer tied to the other felt more comfortable on the one hand, but simultaneously scarier on the other. He wouldn't mind having Quentin close by if the next disaster struck.

He held up his torch to get a better view of the buildings but was reluctant to open any doors before the others joined him. His fortunes hadn't been great before.

"Yes, let's," she agreed with Gareth, and, feeling liberated from the rope, she carefully picked her way over the boards. She proved to be quite nimble on her feet while not being hampered by skirts, but she was still careful not to put all of her weight onto a particularly rotten board.

The small group splits up everyone going off in their own direction since they were no longer wearing the rope. It seemed unlikely that they were going to fall down a deep dark hole from which there was no escape. At least, Quentin hoped so. It would probably be the kind of hole you could see before stumbling into it so hopefully, the group remembered to watch their feet after everything that happened.

They stay somewhat clumped up as they head deeper into the town. Or well, as deep as they could go. It wasn't as though there were streets just walkways leading up to a few different buildings. The largest of which, which was also the furthest from the talk, was sitting about three hundred meters from the water ontop of a stone plateau. It appeared to be meant to be some kind of mansion though it looked like, much like the other buildings, it had been put together with what was available and easy to get into the cave.

Gareth followed wherever Quentin went, because, well, he didn't want to die, or even be alone in this ghost town.

Indeed, she was continuing to be careful about where she put her feet. Once, however, she stumbled and her foot went through a board. Claire yelped and pulled her weight back before she could fall. She managed to extract her foot carefully. She was even more careful from that point on. Her gaze drank in the sight of the building and she almost gaped at it in awe. "Impressive," she murmured.
