An afternoon at the beach [Harbor, Beach, and Sea] - Gabriel Richards - 08-16-2019

Gabriel had just left an old lady who was alone most of the time. Her husband had died. Her sons had drowned at sea and her daughters were busy with their own families, though they checked on her regularly. She had been overjoyed to see him and they had prayed rosary together and he had given a blessing and some pastoral advice. The cake she had insisted on him eating had been stale though and he was quite sure he was going to be sick tonight.

He did not have any obligations for the afternoon, and so he had decided to take a long way back and now he was down on the beach, his shoes sinking into the sand with every step as he walked.

Bon-hwa had made himself comfortable along the shore as he sat on a wooden stool with a wooden stand table in front of him were he was recording information on the sea in front of him. To most it would just look like a bunch of dots and lines and some funny looking symbols, but to Bon it told him everything he needed to know about the area. Which would make it easier when he decided it was time to hunt for the gold.

He saw Gabriel coming from up the beach, not hiding the fact he was watching the man. A very cute man which was only made cuter by the fact he wore shoes while walking on sand.

Gabriel caught the man staring. A foreigner. Maybe a heathen altogether! Wonderful! "Hello," he said. "Lovely day, isn't it?"

"Yes" he replied with a smile, talking slower so that the man would be able to understand him under his accent. "And it just got more so. Do you live in these parts?"

Oh how nice! The man was happy to see him!

"I have just moved here, sir. I'm the new parish priest. And yourself?"

A priest huh? A challenge then, how wonderful. Bon smiled at him and moved to offer the man his seat. "My ship is currently... what's the word... docked here for repairs."

"Oh sir I couldn't." He hated how priests were treated like kings. It only stood in the way, he believed. Without as much as a thought to his dignity, he sat down in the sand. "And where have you sailed from?"

It wasn't because he was a priest that the seat was offered, but no matter. Bon shoot him a smirk and moved to sit on the sand with the man. "Originally? Korea. But that was many years ago."

Gabriel looked impressed. "You're a long way from home... I've never even been outside of England," he confessed with a smile.

“Nothing wrong with home” he smiled and looked out over the water. “But that is mine. Not land...”
