Tobias sat up startled, making a bit too much noise as he moved and causing the people in front of them to turn. He held up his hand. When they looked away again, he put his hand over his eyes and frowned. Now he was a bad church-goer as well. He dropped his hand and mouthed a 'sorry' at Iris.

The people continued speaking and slowly moved outside. By the time Iris was done, only the minister and the Morgans were outside. Tobias wasn't among them, though the carriage was still there.

She was glad for the fact that she had packed a basket of things to take care of the wee one, and among the things was a delicate, lace shawl which was now draped just so to hide the stain. She glanced around for Tobias but didn't see him and panic started to clutch at her throat. She looked around with wide eyes.

The minister shook the Morgans' hands. Then Mrs. Morgan turned to Iris. "It was nice to meet you, Mrs. Carpenter. We hope to see you next Sunday."

"Um... lovely to meet you," she squeaked out and looked down. Oh, where was he? She bit into her lip so hard that it tingled. She retreated a step as someone else came out of the church.
