Tristan watched her. She did not look well, though he knew it was not something to be greatly concerned with. It would wear off and the only possible remaining effect was a dislike for wine. Inconvenient for the well-to-do young lady she once was, but quite convenient for a poor woman.

A clock called the hour, and Tristan started and stood up. "I'm late. If you would just clear the table and wash up, then you can lie down." Then he hurried to the office to set things ready and open up.

"As you wish," she said. She waited until he was gone and slowly got up to clear the dishes, deciding to take hers to her room to nibble on throughout the day since her stomach was the thing most affected by it. Once she was done in the kitchen, she went to her room, set the plate down and lay back down. Sleep came quickly.
