She leaned in for one more kiss. The kiss was slow and soft. When she pulled away, she murmured, "Thank you for being here. I will see you again soon."

"Aye. I'm glad of that." Joe replied softly and slowly as if to hold on to the moment just a little longer. But all good things must end.

"Right, I should be off then." His tone was definative and strong. "Can I take some pie with me for consolation?" He asked playfully.

"Take the whole thing. I made it for you," she said softly. She moved to grab the basket and put the pie in that. "Now you have an excuse to come see me again." She grinned and offered the basket. Assuming he took that, she moved to get his coat and hat, offering them to him too.

Joe smiled broadly "Can't deprive a lady of her basket now."

He accepted graciously accepted his jacket and slipped it on. His cap in one hand, basket in another, he followed her to the front door.

"Thanks again fer tea"

She smiled. Damn it, one more kiss, she thought and did just that... Quickly. Then she opened the door to allow him out, "You're welcome." When he was gone, she closed the door and leaned back against it, pressing a hand to her lips and giggling a little.

The air was cold and the sky was dark, but Joe didn't care. He set his cap at a rakish angle, and set off home. A spring in his step, swinging her basket.
