RE: Returning a jacket - Tobias Appleton - 12-19-2020

Tobias sighed. He just wanted to get out of this town as quickly as possible. "How much does it cost?"

Ah-ha. Now there was a question that Anthony actually didn't know an exact answer to, considering he's always just opted for the five-finger discount. "Figure that out yourself," he shrugged. "it's really the least you could do, considering how you inconvenienced me yesterday..."

Tobias felt irritated, but he did truly feel bad. He wasn't eager to waste his money, considering the fact that he had lost some money two nights ago, had then ended up drinking more money, and now had the expense of a train fare on top of it. But he was also tired and just wanted to go home. He took out a few pennies, which would surely be enough for half a pack or so, and handed it to Anthony. "There."

Anthony smiled. "Isn't that lovely," he said, mostly to himself, as he gladly took the money. He kind of felt bad for doing this, but not enough to not accept the money. "there we go. Debt settled."

That annoyed him more, but he also didn't want to seek out trouble. Especially not with this guy. "Good," he said, and he turned to walk away again. All this was surely penance.

Anthony grinned. He was still feeling terrible, but this was actually turning out to be a great day. "Have a good day, you," he said. He took out the pack of cigarettes he had in his pocket, took the last one, lit it and started to smoke yet again. Anyways.

Tobias was about to step out onto the main street, when he spotted Ben coming, and he turned on his heel, walked back into the alley as far as he could - that was, up to where Anthony blocked the way - and pulled his bowler hat back, so as to cover most of the back of his head. He his back turned to the main street. It had to be a strange sight.

Anthony was glad that was over with. Or, well, he thought it was over with. Guess not. He raised an eyebrow as he looked at what the hell Tobias was doing now. He took another puff of his cigarette, and frowned. "You good?"

"Yeah..." he whispered. He knew it looked weird, but he cared less about Anthony thinking him weird (which he probably already did), than about Ben thinking he was up to something fishy (in which he would be justified).

Anthony raised his eyebrows and shook his head. "Right." Certainly didn't seem like it, but he didn't care enough to question it further. He shrugged, and went right back to just standing there and smoking.
