Tobias ate and finished his second whiskey. It made him feel more comfortable at last. The frightening attack seemed to have happened ages ago, and the pain was less. But unfortunately for Anthony, it also had the effect of loosening Tobias' tongue. "Bastards stole me old man's watch..." he complained.

Anthony was very tempted to just ignore him, but that would be awfully rude, and he didn't want to be rude. "Wow. That's horrible," he deadpanned, really not in the mood to even try and fake some sympathy.

"Aye... I hope they'll find em and get it back before it's pawned," he said. "I don't remember the town bein' so rough when I was a lad. But now... First Elijah and now this..."

"Wow, yeah, that sure is a pity," Anthony shrugged, barely even paying any attention to what Tobias was saying, and just kept eating.

"Aye... Lots of thugs these days..." he said. He continued eating, silent again.

"Yeah, that's too bad," Anthony said. He had completely tuned out Tobias' voice by now, and was just offering generic semi-sympathetic responses.

Tobias ate quietly now. He was tired more than sore now. He could do with another drink to forget the whole event, but he knew he had to control himself.

Anthony made a 'mhm' sound and nodded. "Yeah. Right." He was starting to regret not getting a drink. This would be so much palatable if he were drunk. He had almost finished his meal by now, thank God.

"What?"

But just then the maid returned, and Tobias ordered another drink. Because screw it all. His wife wasn't here. It would help him sleep and forget those bloody bastards.

"What?" Anthony quickly came to the realization that maybe he actually should have been paying attention. Nevermind. He shook his head and returned to eating for a few moments, until he finally finished the damn food. He sat back, rejoicing in this small victory for a little bit.
