RE: This Town Isn't What It Used to Be - Tobias Appleton - 12-17-2020

"You're welcome," said Tobias. When he finished tying, he put the last things in his suitcase and stared at Anthony awkwardly. "So..."

Anthony flashed a smile for a brief moment to show his appreciation. With that finally done, he began to put on his gloves and his boots. He side-glanced at Tobias as he spoke. "So?"

"Erm..." He leaned against the dresser. "I'd appreciate if you'd... never mention this to anyone."

Anthony nodded. Despite being quite a socially-inept asshole, he knew to be discreet. "I wasn't planning on it," he said, lacing up his boots. He succeeded much better with that than he did with his neckerchief.

"Thank you." he said. "Well... I'd best" - run away fast - "be off. Thanks for your help last night."

"Right. Have a good day," Anthony said, nodding at him once again for a second. He then turned away to look for his jacket. Where the hell did he put it?

Tobias took his suitcase and rushed out, so that they wouldn't be seen together. Little did he know that in gathering his things quickly he had tossed Anthony's jacket in his suitcase.

When he cleared the tab (with the money he had had left in his room), the barmaid was giving him looks, but didn't say anything about the events last night.

Anthony combed the room for too long until he gave up. Right. As if things couldn't get worse. Well, nothing he can do about it now other than just try and get home as quick as possible. Maybe he could pretend it's just a fashion statement. While he's freezing to death.

Nevermind. That was that. Anthony tidied the room and bed up a bit, before leaving as quickly as he humanly could. No use in sticking around.
