RE: Keep Your Grubby Fingers Off My Porcelain - Theodosia Strong - 06-21-2020

Theodosia took a step back, her glare still affixed on the stranger's, then another step. She flicked two of her fingers at her eyes, then toward him as she faded into the crowd. Once she was out of his view, she turned and headed back toward the main staircase, keeping an eye out for any other delinquents and/or thieves in the throes of people gathered here tonight.

Anthony waited until the woman finally took her eyes off him. He glanced towards the statuette again, considering whether or not to just take it and run. He eventually decided that wouldn't be a good idea. If he's going to take something, he should take something smaller. Smaller chance of getting caught, then. Anthony began to slowly wander, looking around rather unsubtly for things he could borrow.

Theodosia frowned as her eye was drawn to the man across the room again. He was staring around the room, his gaze catching on a few things she had a feeling he was considering stealing. Back into the fray, it seemed. She tracked him around the room, a few feet behind, her hands clasped stiffly behind her back.

The room was nice to look at, and he got distracted from his goal for a little bit of time. Anthony snapped out of it and finally looked behind him, at something else — rather surprisingly, it was the very same woman, and he made accidental eye contact with her. Ah, shit.

Theodosia narrowed her eyes at the man when he caught her gaze and tilted her head, challenging him to make a move toward anything he might consider valuable.

But Anthony stood still, for he wasn't going to attempt to steal something while her eyes were on him. "What?" He knew exactly why she was acting like she was, but he didn't want to admit it.

Theodosia could tell he knew why she was staring at him again and so decided not to answer the question, only stepped back into the crowd slowly, very slowly, her gaze still narrowed and locked on Anthony's face.

"What?" Anthony felt anxious, now. He certainly didn't feel comfortable trying to snatch anything up anymore, for better or for worse. The nervousness was very clear on his face as he looked away, but kept glancing at her every now and then.

Theodosia went back to scrounging through the crowd, breaking apart a small fistfight between two arguing pals, offering a bowl of soup on the house to a shivering old woman in rags, making sure not a single item in this lobby nor in any surrounding room was moved even a hair from its proper place.

Anthony was relieved when she finally left him alone. He tried to subtly make his way towards a thing he had been eyeing before. He tapped his fingers on the surface that it stood upon, his hand perhaps suspiciously close to it, and tried to figure out whether he should just take it and flee. After looking around rather anxiously, he decided....  not yet.
