She rose, smoothed her skirt out. Got to the cathedral doorway. Something metal rustled … was that a bike bell?

"Now..." he began. Wait, was she leaving? Perhaps better. He doubted that she was actually catholic and he could absolve her... once she had recounted her own sins.
And anyway, he really wanted to clean the confessional.
He jumped a little when he heard something that sounded like a bell. Something metallic. Had she been in the sacristy!? Had she stolen something!? He opened the door and stepped out of the confessional. "Ma'm?"
She was gone already, and if he was honest, this entire experience had been so surreal that he was already beginning to wonder whether it had actually happened, or whether he was beginning to lose his mind.
