RE: One Sunday Morning - Elijah Crane - 02-06-2020

Elijah seemed in thought. "How about you dry and I put them away? I can reach the high places."

"Okay..." Bram said sheepishly. "Can I come stay at your place again this week?"

Elijah paused for a moment but it was certainly longer to answer than normal. "Of course, just let me know ahead of time so I can prepare." He smiled, thinking Anthony would have no problem staying in his own home once in a while.

Bram smiled. "Alright." He totally wouldn't.

Elijah smiled brightly. "Of course you can. I am happy to have all of you come. I'd invite your sisters but it would be seen as inappropriate."

Anne would have pouted if it weren't for the nauseous feeling in her stomach which blurred out most of the conversation.

Ben suddenly opened the door. "Alice, come out for a second," he said in a grave voice.

Alice silently put down the cups she had been carrying, took her shawl and went outside with her father, who closed the door behind them.

Rose and Anne exchanged glances.

Elijah was certainly concerned and was so tempted to move to the door to try to listen. But what could he do? It wasn't his home or his family. Ben would be angry and he couldn't do anything about whatever he over heard. He sighed and looked to the others then focused on Anne. "Are.. you feeling alright?" she looked a little ill.

Anne nodded. Her lip trembled for a second but then she pressed her lips together hard and continued washing up. William too suddenly seemed awkward.

"Can we play constable again when I come?" Bram asked.
