RE: Strange thing, mystifying - Anthony Rowe - 01-21-2020

Anthony could get used to this sort of luxury. "If it's no bother," he smiled innocently. In all truth, Anthony was perfectly willing to just go home even this late at night, but he's not just going to say no to this opportunity—he's not so proud as to turn away from free food and shelter for the night.

Without another word, Elijah stood and headed into another room and returned with a pillow and quilt. "Don't worry about moving, she'll be annoyed but will most likely return to her spot", he explained as he gestured towards Diane. He had a feeling the man would just sleep upright all night in order to avoid upsetting the cat.

Anthony absolutely will just sleep sitting up if it meant that he wouldn't have to bother the cat. "Wouldn't dream of ever bothering her," Anthony said, and with that thought, started gently stroking her head again. What a majestic creature this cat was. "thanks, though." Elijah seemed.....very kind. Too kind, maybe.

Elijah chuckled and shook his head. "Suit yourself. If she does get up though, I hope you take the opportunity to get more comfortable. " He was tempted to get the cat another bowl of fresh water to get her to move so the man wouldn't feel stuck but he was so happy having a lap cat. It just seemed cruel to take it away. The cat would certainly get up on her own eventually. "Well let me do this at least." He folded the quilt up and carefully wrapped it around Anthony's shoulders so he'd be warm and as comfortable as he could on the sofa. "Better?"

"If she gets up I'll just feer very guilty," Anthont laughed quietly to himself. Having a cat laying in his lap turned out to be surprisingly therapeutic for him. All was right in the world, for once, it seemed. Anthony raised his gaze to look at Elijah for a moment as he carefully wrapped the quilt around his shoulders. He was certainly unused to this kind of warmth (literal and figurative), but he certainly enjoyed it. "Yeah. Thanks, Elijah."

He had to cover his mouth as he felt bad about laughing a little. "You shouldn't feel bad. She might want water or to use the bathroom. Or just stretch her legs. You are clearly a great bed to her so I'm sure she'll return. "

He looked pleased and wanted to sit there all night with the man but it was late. "I'll be heading to bed. If you need anything, just knock. I'll make breakfast in the morning." He stood to head to his room so he could change for bed and get some  needed rest.

Anthony was fine with the idea of being this cat's bed now. "All the more power to her, then," he shrugged. He would honestly let this cat do whatever the hell she wants without any protesting, really. Anthony glanced at Elijah as he spoke again, looking away as he came to the conclusion it was nothing to worry about. "Well, goodnight then, Elijah."

Elijah waved, "Night." He almost went to his room but turned around. "If you need to relieve yourself, please get up even if she is asleep. " He knew it shouldn't be necessary but still felt like it had to be said. Quickly the man turned and disappeared into his room to sleep.

He didn't really need that to be spelled out for him but whatever. Anthony nodded at Elijah as the latter retreated back into his room. Anthony figured that he himself should probably try and fall asleep soon as well—which, after a bit of time contemplating whether he actually should, did surprisingly quickly. Maybe it was the whole 'actually feeling comfortable for once in your life' thing? Whatever. He was fucking asleep.

In the early morning, Elijah woke with a stretch and got up almost jumping as he'd temporarily forgot about the guest. Seeing he had truly not moved, the constable sighed and relaxed. He headed into the kitchen after washing up and began to cook breakfast, humming cheerfully to himself.
