Elijah looked down when Simon sounded like he was getting angry. "I... I-I'm sorry.. I was just.. c-concerned." He winced as he could hear himself but not stop it. He rubbed his arm and looked away. "I .. w...won't bother you about it."

Simon felt guilty when he heard Elijah stutter, and he looked up at the constable, frustrated. "I'm sorry, Elijah. It's not you I'm angry with. I shouldn't 'ave raised me voice."

He blushed feeling embarrassed and shook his head. "You've been through a lot. You don't need to apologize, I am sorry I don't know how to help you..."

Simon stood up and shook his head. "You're helping me a lot, Elijah. You have done, so often." He looked at the constable intently. "I'm sorry I've been an ass to ye sometimes, now..."

He waved him off. "It's in the past. You've had to deal with so much on your own. I hope things turn around and you can be truly happy now."

He waved him off with a shurg. "No need. Just do your best, okay?"

Simon nodded quietly and sat down. Then he took the beer he had purchased earlier. "Mind if I drink?" He knew Elijah wasn't father, who went ballistic when one of his children merely looked at alcohol, but he was still Elijah's guest, and it felt polite to ask.

Elijah shook his head. "Drink up. I feel better with you drinking in here than out there and having to come home safely." He tried to smile as he sat on the sofa.

"Cheers..." he said. He popped the bottle open and put it to his lips. Once he was in York, he'd be entirely free to do as he liked. "Tomorrow I'll drop by home first." He informed Elijah. She'll help me pack, when father's out. From there I'll go to the station. I've got the four o' clock train."
