RE: Running out of time - Elijah Crane - 01-20-2020

Elijah shook his head. "We are just dropping by. Simon needs a word." He gestured for Simon to speak with Rose so he wouldn't get too close.

"Aye, and it would help everyone if ye didn't mention it to father." Simon said. "Rose?"
Alice looked from him to Elijah uncomfortably, but then disappeared into the house. Rose met Simon in the corner of the yard and they talked quietly. Rose seemed upset by what she was hearing, but finally she give him a tight hug - which made him cringe - and went back into the house with a glance at Elijah.

Simon walked over to the constable. "Now let's hope they keep quiet." he said.

Elijah shrugged and walked alongside him. "If they don't, you'll be out of town and it's up to me to handle." He smiled nervously but shrugged. "It'll be fine. Ben is already furious with me, so there's nothing to be done about it. I can't just go on his side and force you to stay under his roof like.. well.. l-like that.'

He shortly touched Elijah's shoulder. But just then, someone called out: "Simon Ward!" Simon turned. It was an older fisherman Simon knew well. He lived one yard down. "Yer father's been lookin' for ye. 'e took yer brother with 'im on the boat today. Ye shouldn't torment him, at his age...," He looked at Elijah. "You arrested him?"

Elijah looked at the man and slowly approached him. "No one's arrested right now, and anything in the past is not important. We are heading back towards town, did you need something?" He wasn't going to let the man get closed to Simon. All he needed was the guy trying to help Ben out and make everything so much worse.

"I doubt me father's been lookin' very hard, Henry." Simon muttered.
The man shook his head. "Ye're a source of grief to 'im an' yer family." He turned to Elijah. "Well, I wish ye could arrest him for insolence." He turned around and moved back to his own yard slowly.

Elijah shook his head and sighed. "I'd never arrest someone for insolence." He gestured to Simon. "Let's go. You want me to walk you anywhere?" He was happy to lead him far away from the docks so that no one would bother his friend.

"Nah, it's okay. I've done what I needed today..." Simon said. "Maybe I'll drop by a corner shop..." He shouldn't waste his money on drink. He really shouldn't. But it was appealing.

The curiosity was evident on his face. "What do you want from the store? I may have some at my house. No need to spend your precious money on something you can have for free?"

RE: Running out of time - Jack - 01-20-2020

Simon looked embarrassed. "Erm... I dunno. I thought, maybe a drink... Can I get ye anything?" He quickly added.
