Elijah nodded. "Then just sit and rest your feet until it's ready."

Anne sat, uncomfortable. Father would disapprove if he knew she was being idle. She picked up the cat, sat her in her lap and started patting her. "How was work today?"

"Oh... the usual . Pretty quiet , nothing to complain about. How was your day?" He asked before coming into the room with two bowls of stew.

"Fine." she said and she smiled when he came in with the stew and put the cat down. "Oh that smells delicious."

Elijah sat across after putting it down and shrugged. "Well, I hope you find it tastes as good as it smells." He smiled and folded his hands for prayer before eating.

Anne never ate anywhere else than home, and she almost forgot her prayers. Embarrassed, she folded her hands and closed her eyes and said a prayer silently, before beginning to eat. "It's good!"

He gave her a nod smiling huge. "Really? Thanks. I rarely get to cook for anyone but myself. Eat up, there's enough left for seconds if you like. "

Anne ate eagerly. She was a growing girl and although father always made sure there was enough food on the table, even if it meant sparing it from his own mouth, she often still felt hungry in between meals.

Elijah ate slowly and drank his water. He was overjoyed that she enjoyed his food so much. "If you remind me, I can have a sandwich made for you to eat at lunch time so you don't go hungry so long."
