Color crept up the back of his neck when she praised his chocolate tarts. He knew they were delicious, of course, but that didn't stop him from being humble about it. "Thank ye, Miss Rose," he murmured.

Rose was satisfied to see him blush and she smiled. She handed out the chocolate tart and sat down. "It looks delicious." she said.
"It is delicious!" commented Will after taking a bit, and everyone agreed, including Bram, who had magically found back his apatite.

"I am glad ye like it, thank ye," said the baker as the others began to dig into the pastry. It was a delectable dessert and a rare treat for those who couldn't afford it otherwise, but if he was marrying into the family, they would probably get to have it more.

The family enjoyed the rare treat, and when it was done, Ben turned to Andrew. "Ye smoke, Mr. Willaby?"

"Every once in a while," he said with a nod. He suddenly felt the nerves hitting.

Ben took out his tobacco and pipe. "Well, step out with me for a while, and if ye like, we'll have a smoke."
Rose briefly touched Andrew's hand and gave him a reassuring smile.

He smiled at Rose in return, and then followed her father. He pulled out his own pipe, already stuffed with tobacco as he had anticipated something like this just because he knew gentlemen liked to smoke in groups sometimes. Once they were out, Andrew put the stem of the pipe to his lips and stuck it between his teeth. He offered to light Ben's pipe with a match first before considering lighting his own.

Ben took out his pipe, took the light and handed it back to Andrew when he had lit his pipe. "Thank you," he said. It hadn't been long since he had stood here with Tobias under more troubling circumstances. This time he would hopefully give his blessing to a happier match.
He leaned back against the wall and took a long draw. He blew out the smoke slowly and then said: "Rose seems very pleased..."

Andrew lit his pipe and took a few puffs as well, nodding at the thanks. "Is she? I reckon I should be glad about that." He chuckled and took the pipe from his mouth.
