That had been the worst thing a parent could say about a child, that he was no good. Uriel gave a scowl. "I don't believe in a child being no good, even if they are slow learners. I don't think that is a good thing to say about you're own son. I bet you I can get him to do basic arithmetic by the end of my first week teaching him." He had a new way of teaching that would involve having the kids involved in the processes of learning... Such as showing them how to make electricity out of a piece of fruit or vegetable.

Uriel sighed. That this man was accepting of illiteracy was saddening to say the least. It depressed the hell out of the new teacher to hear a parent basically calling their kid stupid or slow without actually saying the word. "I see," not that it mattered. The man seemed to be set in his ways either way and it would be hard to convince the fellow to see how he saw. It wasn't alright to him, it was far from it.
