Will looked offended.
"Now. I was countin' out the money, to see how long we'll last without us goin' out to sea. An' I noticed there's twelve shillings missin'. If it was the first time, I would have thought I miscounted last time, but a few weeks ago there was money missin' as well."

Elijah nodded. "Ive got a lockbox at home to let you borrow and we'll find a new place to hide it. Someone is planning to keep stealing, hoping you don't notice. Maybe we can catch them if they try to take it again. At least now they won't be able to if you have the only key.'

Ben nodded. "Actually... I have a suspicion of who might have stolen it. That good-for-nothing Edward Seymour has been hanging around this area a lot... I never felt quite comfortable with it..."

Elijah shrugged. "I'll go and look around to see if he's nearby or if someone's even seen him. If it's been a while he'd have probably spent the money already." He could imagine the kid using every penny to buy a mountain of sweets and then getting sick off of them. That was something he'd do, but at the same time. A part of him doubted if Ed would rob Bram's family especially without rubbing it in his face. He went to go towards the door. "Let me go before this person gets any further away.."

Elijah seemed to think it over. "Well I guess if Ben is alright being alone for a while, we can. But you have to be promise to stick close in case it isn't Ed and they are dangerous. I don't want you getting hurt."

Will looked disappointed, but muttered: "Yes father."

Elijah smiled. "Its ok. You can keep your dad safe in case they come back." He left them to start wandering the area trying to find anyone out of the ordinary and ask around. He didn't see any signs of Ed and people were happy to announce they hadn't seen him.
