Red, the colour of my wine [Harbor, Beach, and Sea] - Jacob Feldmann - 09-29-2019 Jacob was on the beach, lying in the sand, dozing off a hangover. He and his friends had gathered again last night, and for some reason, their ideas seemed more revolutionary and courageous the more they drank. In the morning, he had felt less tough. Now he was lying on the beach, his hat pulled over his face, the headache slowly ebbing away. Some fisher girls had passed him by earlier, collecting flithers and driftwood, but his headache had still been too bad to call out to them to join him a while. He had heard them whisper and giggle, but had let them go. Now, some time later, he was dozing, until he suddenly felt his ankles become cold and wet, and he sat up and shrieked as water ran into his shoes. His hat fell into his lap. The tide had changed and the water was slowly reconquering the beach. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Alexandra McPadraic - 09-29-2019 If Jacob looked up and out across into the water he would see a very wet Alexandra looking at him in surprise. Alex had been at the beach, having stunk out of the house. Father and the witch had taken the youngest children and had gone a trip to the next town over for the week. Alexandra had been banned from going after her last outburst at the dinner table, although that had been her plan the whole time. The ladies-maids had gone with the rest of her family leaving the head of the house in charge of Alex, and the old bat wouldn't notice she was gone unless she was late for dinner. Going for a swim hadn't been her plan at all, she simply had stepped in to cool down her feet. Then a wave had come and seeped her in, and Alex decided to go with it. She wasn't sure how far down the beach she now was, and had been very surprised to hear a shriek, even more so to see a man bringing himself into an upright position. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Jacob Feldmann - 09-29-2019 Jacob spotted the young lady and jumped to his rather wet feet. "Are you alright!?" he called out. "Do you need help?" A chance for him to be the hero of the day. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Alexandra McPadraic - 09-29-2019 Alexandra shook her head no to his question, giving him a light smile as she tried not to laugh with how quickly he had gotten to his feet. She took a step forward, keeping herself balanced as a big wave came up behind her. If only her father knew that she was standing in a wet dress that hung to her body in front of a man she didn't know... he would probably have a heart-attack. Alex couldn't help but smirk to herself at the thought. "Are you alright sir?" she called out. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Jacob Feldmann - 09-29-2019 "I think I am..." he said, watching her. Her clothes told him she was a lady. Her attitude was quite different. He watched her with interest. "Have I died?" RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Alexandra McPadraic - 09-29-2019 She tilted her head at the question. "Why would you say that?" she asked, taking another step as the next wave came, feeling a little less balanced that time. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Jacob Feldmann - 09-29-2019 "You must be an angel..." For a rich boy, he was pretty cheap. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Alexandra McPadraic - 09-29-2019 Alexandra laughed but also blushed at that, but before she could answer the next wave had her down and under the water with a mouthful of water. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Jacob Feldmann - 09-29-2019 At that, Jacob rushed into the water, looking for her. RE: Red, the colour of my wine - Alexandra McPadraic - 09-29-2019 She managed to break the surface for a moment to grab a mouth of air before the next wave had her under again. |
