Chester grew up in Manchester in a middle class family. His father was an inspector for the Manchester Constabulary.
Chester went to the local school and got top grades for his efforts and was top of the class. He would complete his 14 year exam and go on to join the Constabulary like his father with the intention of becoming an inspector.
His total time would see him reach ten years in the Manchester force as both a constable and a sargeant before transferring to London when a position opened up there as an inspector.
He would then complete 20 years in london before doing another 3 years with British foreign intelligence over in India.
He fond the food didnt agree with him but had to wait as it was a three year posting before coming home and being transferred to whitby
