Persephone was born in London into a wealthy family and grew up somewhat of a wild child, to her parents’ chagrin. Even when she was just a child, she dreamed of being an architect and that dream has stayed with her all her life. She has a little sister by thirteen years, Harriet, who she absolutely adores and who is the epitome of everything her parents want their daughters to be- ladylike, polite, graceful, and submissive to the wills of men. Persephone always tried to get Harriet to act out a little bit more, to claim her independence as a person, but Harriet was always content to be the perfect daughter. Nevertheless, they share a very close bond and are proud to call each other her sister. Persephone’s parents sent her, on Christmas Day of 1894, to live with a few servants in Whitby, hoping she would find a suitor and settle down, but she’s still determined to become an architect and has sworn off all courtships- the only problem was, her family had threatened to cut off ties with her completely if she didn’t marry within the year.
Luckily for Persephone, she met a certain someone in Whitby who encouraged her dream and truly loved her and she agreed to marry him within a short time. Now Persephone Witaker, she lives with her husband, Donald, in Whitby and is hoping for children in the next few years. |
