Growing up the bastard son of a prostitute, Edward learned quickly that to survive it would take all his guile and wits - from begging on the streets at a early age Edward vowed that he would not spend his life living on handouts and fell into some very bad company.
Begging soon escalated into something a lot more lucrative as he learned to pickpocket the finest pockets and purses of London's wealthy and well heeled.
At the age of 21, Edward moved into the less precarious career of protection when he was approached by some of the Ladies who worked the streets, in return for his protection he took a percentage and soon realised he could make a nice living supplying fine Gentlemen with willing company.
Until that is, the day one of the clients violently attacked one of his Girls, Edward came to her defence but in the struggle the Gentleman stumbled back,tripped and hit his head.
Naturally, it was self defence, but Edward was looking at the noose for sure, so he had no choice but to leave and that's just what he did.
He changed his name,gave himself a new identity left London and travelled as far North as he could,finally settling in York.
It was while he was living in York that he caught the eye of a wealthy landowners Daughter, Elizabeth Hirst, whose Father owned a large estate on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and close to the seaside town of Whitby
They Married after a whirlwind romance, and shortly after their Marriage Elizabeth's elderly Father grew ill and passed away leaving the land and Estate to his only Daughter and her now Husband Edward whose plan was beginning to come into effect.
The proceeding years where good to Edward and he grew comfortable living a life of wealth and privilege although his Marriage to Elizabeth was starting to show some cracks.
Fearing the worst, Edward had to do something to retain his position and during a walk along the clifftops,it would seem Elizabeth lost her footing and fell to her death, leaving the land and estate now in Edwards full control.
