"Aye ser," the girl said in barely more than a whisper.
"Ye take note of that," Ben told her, and then turned to the police constable. "Thank you, ser. We'll be on our way. Have a good evening." And with a brief gesture he indicated for Anne to start walking, which she didn't need to be told twice, and Ben followed her out.
