RE: Oh lovely solitude - Tobias Appleton - 08-25-2020

"Oh okay, well, I gotta go. See you around," he said, and he hurried out, naively hoping that the man would leave him alone now.

Keyword 'naively'. "Great." Anthony, being the annoying bastard he is, did not leave the man alone, and instead just continued to follow him.

Tobias left and walked along the street without looking back. That man had left him alone, right?

Anthony followed him, a bit oblivious to the fact that the man was unaware of his presence. He picked up the pace to the point where he was walking right next to the man, and touched his arm for a moment to make him notice him.

Tobias turned his head when he felt the touch, and he saw the man walking beside him. "Oh... hi..."

"Hey," he said in response, nodded, and then finally shut up, very content with just walking next to this man and tormenting him with his mere presence.

Tobias walked quietly, though keeping up a good pace. At least the man was quiet and he could pretend he was not here. Was it really a good idea to leave Alice in this town? He didn't like it. Yet his feet led him to the carriage house where he had stored his horse and cart.

He simultaneously enjoyed and despised this silence. "Where are you going?" Anthony asked, walking faster now that Tobias had picked up the pace a bit.

"I'm going home," said Tobias, very satisfied to be able to say that. He entered the courtyard and asked a boy to fetch his horse and cart.

That was disappointing. "Oh. Well, isn't that neat." He stood still and watched Tobias do whatever it was that he was doing, in mild interest.
