And Nesah was annoyed. But instead of showing that, she bit her tongue and stared out over the market place in silence.

It ended up being much less fun than she thought it would be. "Cheer up a little, will you?" Easily the most/least effective way of getting someone to cheer up.

She clicked her tongue. "This town is a dreadful place." She said, as if that summed up all her reasons for being chronically peevish.

"That might be true," she relented, "doesn't mean that you should also give in to that 'dreadfulness'..." She had no idea what she was getting at, anymore.

Oh, thank God. She was infinitely pleased by the change of topic, and it was obvious. "Somewhat," she decided. "it's a nice place if you ignore everything that...isn't."

That made Nesah laugh. "So is prison, no doubt."

She wasn't sure whether to feel embarrased or pleased. "Prison might even be better, come to think of it," she joked (sort of), "free meals and free shelter and whatnot. That's better than what we have here!"
