RE: A Fine Folly - Karen Calloway - 07-09-2020

She let Fred rock the babies to sleep with but a nod because he didn't need to ask since he was essentially their new father figure. When he hugged her, she lay her head on his shoulder and rocked with him. Her sigh was soft but tired. Her arms tightened around him and she murmured his name before kissing him softly.

Frederic swayed with Karen for a long, long moment, kissing her back when her lips found his. When he stepped back finally, it was only so he could get ready for bed. Once she was too, he scooped her into his arms and carried her bridal style to the bed they were to share. He gently laid her down and kissed her tenderly, one of his hands coming to gently cup the side of her face, his thumb brushing over her cheek.

Her arm wrapped around his shoulders as he lifted her bridal style and carried her to the bed. She giggled a little when he deposited her on the bed and kissed him back. She wanted to nuzzle into his hand but was too engrossed in the kiss in question. She pulled back after a moment and looked up at his face, a serious expression on hers, though tender. Her eyes met his and she gave a small smile.

Frederic's lips curved up in response to Karen's own smile. "What's going through your mind, love?" he asked softly and rolled to his side, gently pulling her body against his and curling up with her. As she replied (if she spoke in return, if not, he still did this) he drew the sheets and blankets over them for warmth and wrapped his arms around her once more when he'd accomplished this.

"I am just tired," she replied before he snuggled up to her. She curled up against him with her back to him and found that she fit perfectly in his embrace. How could it be so wrong? Her eyes drifted closed and she fell asleep in no time at all. It would seem that she was getting that much needed rest this day and night.

Frederic had a difficult time going to sleep that night, but he managed to about a half-hour after Karen fell to sleep. Then he slept like a log until the morning, when Clover squirmed under the sheets, wanting cuddles.

Sometime in the night, Karen woke with a start from another horrible nightmare. She did not make a sound, covering her mouth with her hand to stifle her gasp. The rest of the night was spent with her staring at the ceiling until not long before Clover climbed into the bed for snuggles. She awoke again when that happened, and sighed wearily.

Frederic could tell something was up with Karen at her sigh and rolled over, Clover content to cuddle under the warm blankets on his other side. "'Morning," he said softly and reached out, touching her cheek lovingly.

"Good morning," she murmured sleepily. Her eyes were closed again for the moment, a wan smile forming on her lips. After a few seconds, she blinked several times in an attempt to open her eyes, and when successful, she gave a groan and flipped onto her belly. Karen buried her face in the pillow. She was probably not a good example of a morning person.

Frederic gave a soft, endeared laugh at Karen. He was definitely a morning person, whereas his fiance seemed to be the opposite. He wrapped an arm around her and drew her closer, peppering the side of her neck with kisses. "I love you," he murmured, and Clover, who was curled up against his Pa's other side, added, "Me too!" Frederic smiled.
