Elijah nodded. "There are a few lawyers in town, perhaps they know of the ones you want to meet and can help you send a letter if you can't locate them. If need be, i can extend your time. Even give you a trial run while we wait."

"Trial run," she answered, an edge of desperation to her voice. "Trial run. Good."

Elijah nodded and seemed in thought. "We will work together so I can see how you interact with others. Though you say you know the law so that shouldn't be a problem to teach you. It's a great way to start."

Elijah nodded as he looked over the paperwork. "Is this address accurate? Sometimes I or someone in the community may need your assistance after hours. It stinks but we have to dedicate ourselves to the community."

There was a pause, and then a slow nod.

"Move around a lot," she grunted, "but for now. Lawyers, you know?"

It was her father's address.

Elijah nodded. "Good, then I know how to find you if I have questions. Have you ever been arrested?" It was one question he had forgottenĀ  to ask though it seemed silly to ask a lawyer.

She had been arrested just the other week - albeit, just over the town boarder.

Fanny shook her head and smiled with wide, wide eyes.

Elijah nodded and reached out to shake his hand. "Can you defend yourself? If so I think you might be hired. Depending on your references and how the trial run goes."

Fanny extended her hand, and clamped down hard enough to hurt on the constable's.

"Yes, sir."

There was a generous amount of relish in that answer.
