Elijah rose his brow looking surprised and impressed. "That's fantastic, the legal system is tricky and you are so young, quite an accomplishment. Where did you work?" He then looked at him squarely as something was strange and he couldn't put a finger on it. "And.. I must ask.. why do you want to do this job? It isn't easy and the pay doesn't exactly make it the most rewarding unless you enjoy helping others?"

Fanny was used to saying whatever she thought the other person wanted to hear, at least until money changed hands. She got right to it from sheer habit.

"There are so many struggling people in the community," she started just like she used to hear the church ladies whinge. "And not enough being done to correct the problems before they spiral out of control, sir. I know plenty of people," she pressed a hand to her flat chest sympathetically, "who would rest easier at night, knowing they're less likely to be robbed or accosted."

Hahaha, yeah, by her!

Elijah nodded as he wrote down what he heard. "That is certainly a good point and very noble. But don't you think you could have done even more if you had stayed in your old profession? Why did you leave anyway?"

Elijah nodded and frowned rubbing the back of his neck. "A-alright. Well, you are still going to have to obey the system you know. So, I can't just hire someone who will take things into their own hands. This .. doesn't give you the right to be a one man army."
